  1. As for decks, a good one is expensive. Stay away from jensen, JVC, Clarion etc. Sony makes a decent value deck. My top 3 would be (starting with most favorite) Eclipse, Alpine, Kenwood.

I would recommend Installing a good head unit and replacing your speakers in the car with quality aftermarket ones before adding subs if you want good sound. JL TR series are excellent, I am really impressed with my 6x9's from them. Can be had from like 120 to 180 or so for the pair. Alpine Type S, as well as JBL GTO series would also be good lines of speakers to work with the power supplied by a Head Unit. Memphis PR series are also a decent choice, I have had them in my car. Not as good as the TR's I currently have.

When you look for a head unit, make sure it has pre amps for the subs, as well as for a 4 channel amp. Pre amps are the RCA jacks that send un amplified signals to an amplifier.

Once you have good clean powerful highs and Mids taken care of, NOW you can add some lows. I have a single JL 10w3 in a sealed JL power wedge box powered by a 320 watt rms @ 4 ohm JL amp and it has plenty of power to over power my components in the car, so its important to keep the bass down. Not super loud from outside the car. If that is what your looking for, I would maybe consider a 12. 10's typically deliver punchier more precise bass, 12's usually result in a lower more powerful bass note, however because they are larger, typically are not as accurate as a 10 from the same manufacturer.

as far as brands, JL and Alpine are my two favorites for sound clarity. While they both offer powerful bass, it is usually very clean and crisp when paired with a quality amp in a good box.

Memphis is an excellent brand for loud powerfull bass. M1 and Mojo series subs from them are VERY powerful, although not as clear as my JL w3. Kicker is a brand which offers very powerful, affordable bass for a decent price. Same with MTX. Both of these brands, however, have their high and low ends, so keep that in mind when shopping. Solo-baric subs (the square ones) are great for loud powerfull bass, because there is more surface area being moved. I have yet to hear one that is as clean as a JL, eclipse, alpine etc. Rockford fostgate is also a great SPL brand to consider. Commonly available as well.

There are also tons of smaller brands that offer good products such as Valor, Elemental Designs, O2 (oxygen) etc.

Buy a high quality amp, and please, do yourself a favor and buy a pre made box, preferably from the subs manufacturer. A lot of guys build boxes and really dont know what they are doing, so the boxes flex, leak and a lot of times dont even have enough volume and the subs sound like c**p.

When you start getting into the area of needing a 40 amp fuse, I would start looking at a Cap. I run a 30 amp fuse with my 320rms@4 and 580(or something) @2 amp, and when the sub is REALLY hitting hard, the lights dim a little bit,

Good luck and Email me if you have any questions

  2. one kicker L7 and a kicker 800 watt amp will pound but when u first by the sub make sure u dont turn it up loud for a few days u have to break in the sub...and a jvc cd player would probably be best

  3. If you want really good sound quality. I would buy a Nice deck like JVC or something. And it doesn't always matter buy how big the amp is for the bass. You have buttons on the stereo to control the bass and the treble.

I would buy a nice little amp 400 watt kicker. Kicker is the best piece of sound equipment you could get for stuff like this. And some kicker 10's 12's 15's. Thos are the size speakers they have. They have little ones also.

Butt make sure you get it hooked up correctly because one crossed wire could fry your amp.
