Buying the rights to camp rock or high school musical to perform as a play?

how do i go about buying the rights to camp rock or high school musical if i wanted to do a musical to perform at my church with some kids from my neighborhood? do i have to since they are movies? is it really serious if we just did it without paying anything?

if your gunna do it in front of a group without recording it and putting it on sumwhere like tv or internet its okay

but if u put it on sumtin it is illegel iunno what they are gunna do mabey just like take it off or they can sue

but dont be worried if its just for fun infront of a school or group of ppls have fun :)

for high school musical......go to music theater international; they hold the royalty rights for disney....here is a link   http://www.mtimusicalworlds.com/   once there, to see all the musicals they have click on the mti logo in the top middle of the page and then click on browse shows; they are listed in alphabetical order...or click on the disney collection logo...there is the regular version and a one act version geared toward younger (middle-school aged) actors

performing a play or musical without purchasing royalty rights is illegal

royalties are usually based on how many performances you intend to have, the cost of the tickets and how many tickets you plan to sell, but i have not worked with MTI before, so they may be different.....GOOD LUCK!!!!!

edit: since it just premiered last week, i don't know that there would be a stage script available yet

A. Why?  Those are horrible shows!  They aren't worthy for real actors.

B. It would be illegal to perform without a license

If it isn't published your fine go and have fun at the play. But if you want it to be published go to http://www.mtimusicalworlds.com/  then click  on what ever catergory

Well technically if your doing it at your church with your friends go ahead your doing it for fun as long as it is not taped then published  or published in any way  but if you paid them you probably could publish it! Just do it for your family please you wont get into trouble!
