I am thinking about buying tickets to go to vietnam via yahoo or expedia, but are those just for the tickets, or do I get a visa too?

  1. No the oneline tickets are just that...air tickets

Getting a visa is a separate thing...you need to apply, pay the money and get the visa in your passport from Vietnamese Embassy or consulate, or depending on your passport can get a visa on arrival in Vietnam...dont forget photographs...

  2. When you buy an online ticket to other countries. I always recommend a travel agency. They will take care of what you need. Especially VN, China, Cambodia..

Travel agent has discount w/ airlines while yahoo and expedia mostly display the public fare (non discount).

I work for a Vietnamese travel agency so most of the time we cover the fare + visa. Others will be people that  get their tickets from the airlines, employee tickets (I had to apply for my own visa before when I worked for Korean Airline) or transit visa. Call up a travel agency close to you and talk to them.

  3. You need to obtain the visa through the Vietnamese Embassy - Visa Consular service.  Please use this link for more information.

    http://www.vietnamembassy-usa.org/consul...

The fee is $30 dollars for a one time entry - you need to pay with a cashier check or a money order.  Please call them directly if you have any additional questions regarding the application process.  When I applied, the process took about a week.  You should give yourself at least two weeks for the application process, just in case.  I hope this helps.

  4. yes when you buy the ticket, you will also get a visa
