Do the laws vary by state regarding the appearance of a ford police interceptor? What can stay on the car and what needs to be removed, like spot-lights, grill lights, decals/stickers, radios/cbs, etc.

Thanks for your answers. I've been looking at some cars but not sure what some laws are regarding appearance. And no, I have no intention of impersonating anything.

  1. It varies from state to state. Where are you?

  2. I had one...those interceptor engines are vicious :)

Spotlight on the driver's side can stay. "Cage" separating front from back seats needs to come out. All flashing lights need to be removed (unless you're a firefighter or EMT, then you need to check your state regulations).

The deer slayer on the front can stay.

CB radio needs to come out if it was used by police. You can put a different one in its place, as they aren't illegal, but the one already in it is for police use only.

All decals and stickers relating to police have to be removed. The radio antennae I think has to come off--check on that.

  3. Varies by State but all equipment used by police agencies will be removed (and reused) and decals sanded off. Many States do not allow spotlights except on law enforcement vehicles. Most will not have flashing lights left on either but, remove them if they are.

  4. the law is you must pull over other police officers at every opportunity
