I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler. About three months ago while listening to FM radio only a buz noise began. As I drive the noise gets lowder. Someone mentioned changing the distributer cap and that did not seem to work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. That's actually pretty unusual.  Noise on AM is very common; noise on FM, not so much.

Your Wrangler has a junction in the antenna cable, located behind the glove box.  You can check this connection and make sure it's secure, as well as the connection at the back of the radio.  Otherwise, I'd suspect a defect in the radio's tuner.

  2. What kind of car? what kind of radio in this car?

This problem can be created by all sorts od things.

Tuneup on the vehicle, fibrglass hood can also create the problem as it will not shield electrical noise which can be picked up via antenna. Need more details to try and help

  3. Check the groundwire.
