Buzzers Kelley upsets Pennys Option, winning The New Year Marathon – Greyhound Racing Update
Buzzers Kelley, won The New Year Marathon in the 750 metres Greyhound Open Race at Romford on Friday, January 6, 2012.
The b***h, trained by A J Ingram, was the least favourite to win, but ended up on top, earning cash prize of £200. She had a starting price of 14 to 1, and broke from trap number four.
Buzzers Kelly, daughter of Droopys Kewell out of Hit The Buzzer, covered the race distance in 48.15 seconds. She really surprised one and all with her stamina and speed, as her staring price suggested that she would end up at the tail of the chart.
Pennys Option, was the dog who disappointed his trainer J J Coleman, who would have been confident of winning before the start of the race. However, his dog finished in second despite being the favourite with a starting price of 5 to 4.
The runner up hound, born to Head Bound out of Shellys Crown in January 2009, covered the race distance in 48.39 seconds. He went into the race from trap number two, but was 0.25 seconds behind the winning b***h.
The D Mullins trained hound, Genesis Cougar, finished third overall after breaking into the race from trap number one. He had a starting price of 5 to 1 and covered the complete distance in 48.57 seconds.
Genesis Cougar is the son of Westmead Hawk out of Selsey Girl and was born in September 2007.
Perfect Gold, trained by N L Carr, took fourth place in the race. She had a starting price of 5 to 1 and broke into the marathon from trap number three. Her finishing time was 48.69 seconds, which was 0.12 seconds slower than the third placed dog.
Perfect gold is the daughter of Westmead Hawk out of Gold Lark and was born in April, 2009.
The second most favourite hound to win the race was, Penskey Rain, but he only managed an unimpressive fifth place finish. He had a starting price of 5 to 2, but covered the overall distance in 48.73 seconds. His trainer K R Hutton would have been
extremely disappointed at the outcome.
Penskey Rain was born in June 2008 to Flying Penske out of Catunda Lorraine.
Nice N Furry, ended up at the bottom of the table. The b***h, trained by P W Young went into the race from trap number five, and had a starting price of 6 to 1. She covered the race distance in 48.79 seconds. She was born in November 2008 to Westmead
Hawk out of Pianisimo.
