Buzzing sound, wont come on!

Question

Hi. I switched off my Samsung Digimax S500 & while the lens was retracting I mistakenly opened the battery compartment. Now the lens is still sticking out and the camera wont come on. It makes a buzzing sound when i push the on button. Please help, I go on holiday soon and would hate to leave my S500 at home!
