it will give China the courage to take Tibet? It really seems to me that there is a Brave New World out there, that is not afraid of the USA.

Russia taking Georgia where exactly? It's a tiny, mountain filled, violent piece of land, there is a no appeal in it for Russia. I think their only viable industry is a little bit of tourism and cognac making. Besides, up until 2-3 days ago Georgia was a part of the Russian Federation's commonwealth.

Russia is taking control of territories which have democratically voted to leave Georgia and join Russia. If you believe in democracy and people's right to chose, you should support their efforts too.

FYI: This has happened in USA history too! In 1835 Mexican province of TEXAS decided to leave Mexico and join USA. A war was fought, Same situation, just 130 years ago.

I don't know about a brave NEW world, it seems to be the same old, same old. The Russians are liars bent on regional domination, the Chinese are liars bent on world domination, what was that Solzhenitsyn said about communism and lies again? Once again America alone "stands athwart history and says STOP!' (William F. Buckley). A repeat of tepid American foreign policy, war by half measures and weakness from the presumptive next president (Obama echoing Carter) have emboldened evil men to do that voodoo that they do so well. If, as Mark Twain proffered, "history doesn't repeat it sure does rhyme", we are in for some serious confrontations. I do hope that this isn't Munich 1936 with the tapping of Chamberlain's umbrella echoing on the cobblestones. If it is, we will be at war with the world before the end of the decade. "Peace through strength" will need to be our operative phrase. This situation reinforces that it is not yet safe enough for Barack Obama to be president.

1. Russia hasn't taken Georgia - yet.

2. China already has Tibet.

The US could sweep the Russian army from the battlefield without much trouble - the problem comes when the Russians start throwing the nukes around.

Russia didn't take Georgia, it retaliated when Georgia backed by US attacked S.Ossetia. Then China doesn't have to take Tibet, it already does. You're implying that somehow China fears US, I think you didn't see their veto in the UN or snubbing Bush.

US & Bush literally have no influence over China, Russia or Europe. Literally. The reason Bush could use hysteric language against Russia. Imperialism always comes at a cost.

Russia did not take Georgia! I believe Russia, in  this case, simply intervened on behalf of South Ossetia. The conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia has been going on for years. Russia wont take Georgia b/c if they do the us will just start war with Russia.. and maybe in a couple hundred of years china might actually try to take Tibet

Russia-Georgia War is coming to end ! Georgia taken over by Russians no the Russian military had asked  Georgian goverment and informed it it will be deploying its troops theirs (have them said that shows us that Russia still considers Georgia independed !) Russia Aim was to secure the Piple line And to make sure the project Poland Georgia had will not be a threat and will itself be the guardian of that ! As to Ossetia they made them self clean work of it Russia destroyed Ossetia's capital ironically Ossetia is in worsen situation than it was it was exterminated by its Ally it is Ossetia that does not exist !

From the moves of Russian military it seems that Russia had achieved what it wanted now it will end the war Georgia has the right to be westernized (Putin will allow it but only than when Russia's military will be in Georgia !)

I think in time Georgia will join NATO ! Russia will allow that ! Knowing that the Russian army secured everything what they wanted I wonder what will happen to Ossetia ?
