  1. Yes for the Vatican. The Vatican is the world smallest state.  It has observership status at the UN...it is not a full participant.

  2. The vatican is very political.  They are also very misleading.  That's why for "many" years at one time or another I have heard people wanting the vatican out of the UN.  I agree.  But the vatican is the smallest state in the world.

communism was born out of the catholic church.  Like people in in South and North America, many don't know that.  Neither do most people in China, Russia, North Korea, Vietnam, etc.

When the communism party turned its back on the vatican, that when the rest of the world started hearing the communist proclaiming that God doesn't exist.  The vatican knows this.  The vatican still wanted control of the communist.  So along comes the 1930's and the vatican helped Hitler into power to over throw the communist and any other religion that had walked away from mama.

    Just read the book...(below)

  3. The formal name of Taiwan is the Republic of China. When the UN was founded, the Republic of China was a founding member and was given a permanent seat on the UN Security Council. Following the Chinese Civil War, the Republic of China was forced to vacate the mainland and evacuated to Taiwan where it remains to this day. The Republic of China claimed the whole of China (and Mongolia) as its territory. Mainland China became the People's Republic of China.

The Republic of China remained the Chinese member of the UN, and the People's Republic could not join the UN. By the 1960s and 70s, world opinion began to turn, and gradually the world began to recognise the People's Republic of China over the Republic of China. Albania, a Communist European nation with close links to PRC moved a general assembly resolution to withdraw recognition of ROC and recognise PRC as the only representative of China. The USA and ROC managed to block these resolutions until Resolution 2758 was passed in 1971. ROC could not use its Security Council veto, as the question was on credentials rather than membership. ROC was then expelled from the UN and PRC took its place and the Security Council seat. The ROC has tried to join the UN since then, but has always been blocked by the PRC.

The Vatican City is a city state which is the sovereign territory of the Holy See (the central government of the Catholic Church, headed by the Bishop of Rome, commonly called the Pope). It is the Holy See which is active in international affairs (as it has done since the times of early Christainity). The Holy See represents the Vatican City in all international and foreign affairs. The Holy See has been a permanent observer in the United Nations since 1964 and, in July 2004, gained all the rights of full membership except voting. The Holy See does not wish to vote at the UN, but there is nothing to stop them requesting such privellege. The Holy See's purpose is to remain neutral, which would be difficult if it was voting against other countries.

  4. the vatican has declared and is accepted as an independent county

taiwan does not claim or wish to be an independent country, they regard themselves as the legitimate government of all of  china

  5. The UN doesn't recognize Taiwan since 1971, though it did recognize it from 1949 to 1971 and even give it a permanent-member status with a right to veto.

Translation to Portuguese: A ONU não reconhece Taiwan desde 1971, embora ela o tenha reconhecido entre 1949 e 1971, e mesmo dado a ele o status de membro permanente, com direito a veto.

When China came back, in 1971, Taiwan was expelled.  Ever since then, it could never come back because it would need China's approval to get in, given that China now holds a right to veto.

Translation to Portuguese: Quando a China voltou, em 1971, Taiwan foi expelido.  Desde então, ele nunca pôde voltar, porque seria necessário que a China aprovasse seu ingresse, considerando que agora a China é quem tem direito a veto.

As to the Vatican, it holds a status as an observer.  It doesn't have a right to vote in the General Assembly.  Only states can be members of the UN.  The status of the Vatican is close to a state, but not a state properly...
