  1. No, actually it's improving and advancing technology to be in harmony with nature and not destroying it.

  2. In some ways, it might feel like we're going backwards.  However, it's more like 3 steps forward and 2 steps back.  You see, we made huge leaps and bounds in technology in the last 100 years.  Unfortunately, this has increased the average persons impact on the world.  Now we have to take 2 steps back, and re-examine what we are doing and how we are doing it.  Only then can we continue moving forward again - this time in the right direction.

  3. In some ways yes, to truly go green we are going back to a way of life when we were in touch with our surroundings.

Think about it, buildings were built to protect us from the elements, communities used what was available locally, they took into account how the sun and wind interacted with the building, they knew that heat rises, so even igloos had roof vents. They knew that sunlight heats, so in warm climates they faced openings like doors and windows away from the sun the opposite in cold climates. People built homes near trees to protect from wind. All of these principals are being used to make modern homes more energy effcient.

People are getting back in touch with their food supplies too. People want to know the conditions in which their food was grown, what kinds of pesticides, genetic alterations, humane treatment of livestock. Farmers markets are popping up all over the country, lawns are being turned into vegetable garderns.

For decades we have been using the earth as a resource instead of the life support system that it is. We can learn much from out past, we all needed to clean our floors and linens before petrochemical detergents came onto the market, so why not go back to what got your grand parents sheets white, natrual soap and sunlight with a little vinegar as a to soften them.

We can look to the past for many of our solutions, most of our current pollution problems are from new technologies. I believe we can keep most of our modern conveniences just find new ways of manufacturing the is gentler to the planet.

  4. no. its super simple.

we are making better technology with better benefits.

    thats forward.

  5. no. how could that be going back? we were never so concerned. it only made us more concerned now bc it affects us now. it wasnt an issue long ago

  6. In a way we are, but for the better.  I think that we got ahead of ourselves too quickly.. too much became available to us too quickly and before we knew it, we took advantage of what we had.  We now need to take a step backwards and think before we act.  It's simple really.

  7. If how we are behaving now with our two-three gas guzzlers per house that is heated by natural gas and powered by nuclear power plants four states away....then tell me that we are not moving ahead with renewable natural energy and more transportation options than what we have. We are pretty backwards, buddy.

  8. In a matter of speaking yes but what we hopefully will do is learn from our past and improve on it.

  9. If you want to live in a cave, go ahead.   I'd rather get double pane windows and a highly efficient heat pump.   You want to trade in the suburban for a horse and buggy?   I'd rather get an electric vehicle that I can charge with solar panels or a small windmill.
