1. Well it just depends. If you are actually going to cook the food from scratch then it is cheaper. Well cooking is always cheaper. Also when you go to resturants its cheaper to buy veggies than a plate of meat. Now if you are going to buy Boca or Garden burger already made foods then it comes out to be more expensive. So it really just depends on how you plan to prepare your food.

  2. its actually more expensive to buy all veggies and tofu and meatless things, so technically you dont save money. its cheaper to eat fatty foods, than it is to eat healthy stuff thats good for you.

  3. Skip processed convenience foods and cook from whole foods. My grocery bill went down 25% when I went vegan because I cut out the c**p and started cooking real food.

  4. Vegan diets are more expensive.. they have to eat more of non-animal foods cause they don't eat any dairy products!

Vegetarians it's about the same cost as meat eaters cause a Vegetarian will eat more fruit than meat eaters eat! Vegans will eat more fruit than Vegetarians eat!

To eat a healthy Vegetarian or fruit diet

it won't save you any money! It could cost more! It could be cheaper if you cook your own but you need to bargain hunt and know how to cook from scratch!

  5. Its actually more expensive.

  6. Not too sure,as Ive never bought anything other than my vegetarian organic foods,so cant really compare.

But health wise its cheaper,as healthy eating promotes longer life,so you do the maths.lol.

  7. This truly depends on if how you are comparing, and if you are making things from scratch or not. Example a vegetarian replacement called "Wham" for ham cost $17 for a 4lb roll. Now if you buy 4lbs of deli ham it would cost about $20. If you get ambitious and make that recepi from scratch its cheaper. I've a vegan friend who makes everything from scratch and I mean everything. Her grocery bill is much cheaper than mine. I am not vegetarian now but have been and am thinking to be a vegetarian again. Thinking very hard about it.

Then again if you are a vegetarian or vegan and can work your own garden all the cheaper.

Being a vegan can be extreemly costly if you buy all the speciality foods. Sometimes the vegetarian/vegan specialty foods can health wise be worse for you than the meat. This is because they have tons of salt in them. Salt content is something to keep in mind, if you buy a lot of specialty foods.

Bottom line vegetarian/vegan is cheaper if everything is done from scratch.

  8. If you try to eat meat substitutes and cheese substitutes all the time it is extremely expensive. If, however, you use things like tofu, tvp, and eat lots of fruits, veggies, grains, etc. it is actually much cheaper.

I was thrilled this summer when I went to Epcot and for the FIRST time that I can remember I ate a vegetarian meal at a restaurant and it was CHEAPER than the meat-containing items on the menu! I don't like eating out in restaurants--they always try to call something "vegetarian" then charge extra for it even though it costs much less for them to make it!

  9. It's probably the same or even more expensive to buy special vegetarian/vegan products.

  10. I spend the same amount either way. I feed a family of 4 on $560.00. We are vegan. I used to spend the same with 3 omnivores and a lacto-ovo.

It's just obvious. Beans and rice cost less than meat.
