  1. There is no age requirement to sit in the front seat in Michigan.  Children 3 and under are required to sit in a child safety seat.  Children over 4, but under 16 must wear seat belts regardless of where they sit in a car including the back seat.   Booster seats are recommended for children ages 4-8 or less than 4'9" tall.

  2. I live in Michigan go to the Michigan bar and look up the statute.

  3. Apparently from birth, by Michican's stinky car passenger laws. However, the laws of physics are always the same no matter what the state's law says and any kid under 13 years belongs in the back seat. The seatbelt is not made to restrain someone smaller than that, and the front seat is not as safe as the back seat as it provides less crumple zone in an accident.

  4. 37

  5. It should be based on weight and height, not age as not all children are the same size.

The general rule is that the seatbelt should fit across the child's shoulders without needing adjustment and the child's knees should bend when sitting.

Also if you have a newer car with airbag passenger control make sure to check your owners guide for the weight required to allow the airbag to work
