this can be very tricky if you have been of work with the same problem a few times then yes you can.i know this because i was of work a few times withe the same thing and i handed a sick note in each time.we have a thing at work that if of more than once you go on a stage 1 2 3 i got to stage 3 had to go before the top man then it was up to him if i got the sack i was lucky but they have sacked a lot of people who have been of ill and had a sick note

I believe there are laws to protect against this. However the employer has many other options to sack an employee. One might be a job description that requires a certain amount of attendance.If your attendance prior to this illness has been poor. That can be used against you.

No you cannot but I would have to here more. When did you give in the note? Did the date match and a few more questions so you see that I would have to here more, because I do not think your Employer are so

crazy to let you go just like that so there may be more that you are & have not say, so go and come again with the rest of the fact.

A docs sicknote is law, it cannot be quibbled over unless its a standing sick note for 3 or six months persay.  An SSP is a different matter even with a signed SSP your company hasn't a leg to stand on.

No, it's illegal for a company to sack an employee for being sick, especially if they have provided a sick note. Are you sure this is the reason you were let go?

If you are in the US (except the State of Arizona), you can legally be let go for any reason!  That is the nature of "At Will" states.

Now, you would most likely be eligible for unemployment benefits, but they can fire you!
