  1. Actually in the UK, they do not have to wait until the end of the lease ... they can raise it anytime six months after the lease's start date.

However, yes, they do have to give you more notice than this.  It should say in your lease but normal is two months' notice, although I'd imagine that some leases say only one month.

I would check what your lease says and then call the landlord/agency and quote it to them.  I assume you always pay on the tenth of the month, so tell them that (if it is two months' notice) you'll be happy to accept an increase as of 10 October.  If they get nasty with you, get in touch with CAB who should be able to advise.

  2. They have to give a minimum of 1 full months notice, from the agreement/rent date. So if you received the letter after 10 July then the next full month will be 10 Sept. For the landlord to get the increase on 10 Aug, he would have had to sent the letter to get to you BEFORE the 10 July.

  3. Do you have a lease?  If so then they can't raise the price until the lease has expired.

30 days is generally the expected about of notice for pretty much everything rental-related.

    hope that helps

  4. Usually if you have a lease he/she should wait until the end of the lease to raise the rent, or unless stated in the lease that with reasonable time (30 days) they will raise the rent.

If in the case that you do not have a lease then he/she can do it, with a reasonable amount.
