  1. YES! Many of the current broadcasters have elected to transmit digital sub-channels in addition to their primary channel. So as an example, my ABC channel 7-1 broadcasts two additional sub-channels (7-2 & 7-3). Most of the broadcasters in my area are broadcasting additional sub-channels. You can expect to see this in your area as well.

  2. That depends. The strong signals on analog will have no problems in digital, basically because the distance between their transmitter and your location hasn't changed. Those analog stations coming in snowy because they're on the fringe will likely not come in at all in digital.

As noted, some stations are multicasting, esp PBS with PBS World and PBS Kids, NBC with WeatherPlus, and ion with Qubo and Worship. They do so at the risk of degrading their HD signal, though, so we'll see if other stations follow suit.

  3. Well, it depends on whether the broadcast TV stations in your area will decide to broadcast more channels once they convert to digital.  My guess would be you'll get the same broadcast channels as before the analog-to-digital conversion.

You *might* even get more channels than you did with analog broadcasts, because many networks broadcast several subchannels with different programming than the main station

  4. No, and somewhere online you can request a coupon from the government to aide in the cost if u can't afford the switch over to aservice that way u can keep ur old tv!
