  1. About a half hour, I would say

  2. Somewhere between about 30-45 mins.

  3. It will take you about 30-40 minutes to get to Yankee Stadium from the Times Square Area.

1- First walk over to 8th Ave and 42nd Street subway and go down stairs and catch the Uptown A or C train to 59th street and Columbus Circle.  (One stop on the A express or two stops on the C local to 59th street)

2- Get off train at 59th street and columbus Circle stop and wait on the same platform.

3- When the D train comes into the station get on the D train.  Take it to 161st & River Ave subway stop in the Bronx.  This is the stop for Yankee Stadium.

an alternate way to go would be to

1- Go to the Times Square subway station at 42nd street and 7th ave and Broadway.

2- go downstairs and take the #7 IRT train 2 stops to Grand Central Subway Station.

3- Get off the #7 train and go down the stairs and follow the signs to to the #'s 4, 5, 6 subway lines and take the uptown #4 train to 161st & River Ave subway stop and you will arrive at the same place which is the Yankee stadium stop.

Both sets of travel instructions will get you to the same place in about the same amount of time.

    have a good trip.

  4. You need to get on the 7 (purple) line or the S (shuttle) at Times Square and take one of those to Grand Central Station. At Grand Central transfer to the 4 (green) line. That train takes you directly to Yankee Stadium in The Bronx. The trip during peak times will take you about 45 min but expect to wait longer for trains if you go on off hours or on a non-game day.

  5. on a perfect day and time it would take only 20 minutes, but i'd budget at least 30, if not more, because you have to deal with waiting, crowds, etc...

from Times Square walk 1 block east to 6th Avenue (42nd Street / Bryant Park station), and then take the B or D train to 161st Street / Yankee Stadium. you almost never need to change trains.

if you go on a game weeknight and take the B, just stay on it, and it will stop there. if you take the D, it will run express most of the way and take 5-10 minutes less, and most will stop at 161st during rush hour. the trick is to listen for the announcement when the D stops at 145th Street.

if you go on the weekends, or at another time when there's no game, you just have to be aware of any service changes and budget more time, just in case (like the B not running on weekends and the D running local...).

EDIT: all the advice to walk to 8th Avenue is doubling back. it's the same distance to walk to 6th Avenue, and you don't have to make any line to line transfers at all...

  6. It would take you at least 45 minutes because you would have to transfer trains. Take the A train from Times Square to 145 Street. Transfer there to the D train to 161st Street and Grand Concourse. Yankee Stadium.  Now if you wanted a bit of a quicker ride, I would suggest taking the shuttle train to Grand Central and taking the 4 train which runs express to 161st street and Grand Concourse.

  7. You could hopstop it

  8. Farfel is right. Why on earth would you walk a block to Eighth only to have to transfer, and why would you take the shuttle to Grand Central to get the 4 when you can take the B or D right from Bryant Park, 47-50 Rockefeller Center or 53rd St and Seventh Ave.

  9. The 42nd St shuttle (S) takes about 1 minute, the walk down the passageway at Grand Central to the Lexington Avenue line about 3 minutes.  The uptown #4 to Yankee Stadium will take about 25 minutes.

A lot will depend on the time of day you are going.  During non-rush hours on weekdays the trains run a bit less often and the same on the weekends too, although there are some extra trains on ball game days.

During PM rush hours (about 3:45 to 7 PM) while there are more trains, all it takes is one stuck door, sick passenger etc and the trains start to get delayed and the minutes start to add up.

Between waiting for trains and travel time it is best to allow yourself 45 minutes to an hour from the point you get on the subway just to be on the safe side (most people do).
