  5. Good question!  Philosophy teaches us that there are two classifications of "being human" one is the biological self-Humans are in the Animalia Kingdom, were in the chordata phylum meaning we have a backbone, were mammals because we live birth, nurse our young, and are homeothermic (able to regulate our own temperature) Were habitual bipods, and for the most part omnivores.  The second is the metaphysical self-Humans are self aware, interact with their environment, and capable of complex "higher emotions" such as empathy, jealousy, and love.  While some animals have been proven to have certain emotions and interact in a complex fashion, its paltry compared to the human experience.  We also manipulate the environment to suit us, and are top of the food chain.  Were the only animals that eat Alligators and Bear.
