So, I had a miscarriage almost 4 weeks ago(4 weeks on this Wednesday coming up) I had to get the D&C procedure, the doctor that gave me the surgery said to wait 3 months to get pregnant then walked out!

so, yesterday I had my appointment with MY doctor, he gave me an ultrasound and I still wasn't cleaned he said it could be blood, that no one knows, so he gave me 4 pills to take every 6 hours, and to go back in 2 weeks. Also, he asked for a urine test to see if I'm still pregnant, and it already showed negative

So, if in 2 weeks my body is already cleaned out, and well we all know that my test came out negative, is it good to try again? Well I mean also I want to wait one whole cycle for my period to come, or should I still wait 3 months?

I know people prefer to wait more, because of the thought of having another miscarriage might be too much for them. However, in my heart I really believe that things will be way better this time.

Ladies, what do you recommend? I know my doctor will tell me then how long to wait, but from your opinion what do you think? How about that negative pregnancy test, isn't that a good sign? I've heard stories of ladies saying that after a miscarriage the test still comes out positive. What do you think?

  1. Hey, im so sorry that this happened you to and that you were treated so poorly.

I suffered the same thing in Feb of this year but i dont have any desires to get pregnant again.

I would make sure that both you and your partner really want to do this again and that it is something you can deal with.

I would start again whenever you feel ready as there is no 'real timescale' to start trying again.

    good luck.x

  2. For me it wasn't a matter of how long to wait, it was when would my cycle regulate. After my MC I had crazy cycles. I had to buy a clear blue easy monitor so I could tell when I was ovulating.

It took me 6 months to get pregnant again. I am now 23 weeks along and having a little girl. I would say don't give up and try again when you are ready. Being ready mentally is just as important as being ready physically.

  3. You should probably wait 25 years.

  4. LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR.  They went to medical school.  They are going to know best.  You are just asking for trouble.  It drives me crazy when people already know the correct answer, but they don't like it so they go around seeking differnet advice till they get the answer they want!! Don't be an idiot and risk injuring a baby just because you are impatient and selfish!!!

  5. Personally, I would wait the one month (cycle) and try again. doctors want you to wait 3 mo to make sure they dont get sued for telling you to try again too soon. Most miscarriages end in a huge amount of emotion, and that boils over to the doctors sometimes. After your cycle, start trying, GOOD LUCK!!! :)

  6. I think you need to do what your doctor suggests.  Check with him and see what he says.  I had a miscarriage in July and was told to wait one full cycle, then we could try again.

    Good luck!

  7. I am so sorry for your loss.  Please ignore the rude answers from little children.

Yes, a negative pregnancy test is an encouraging sign, it means that you no longer have enough preg. hormone to trigger the particular test you are taking.  My doctor asked me to wait a bit longer and have a blood test a few weeks after a neg. urine test to make sure my levels went down to ZERO.  She said that ovulation will not likely happen until then, and that residual small level of hormone may remain for a while.

I agree that the major reason most people want you to wait is for emotional health reasons.  I felt I was ready after about 3 weeks and tried again.  No luck though.  I guess my point is, it is a personal decision and as long as you feel ready and your body feels okay, then go for it.

Again, sorry for your loss.  Remember that one miscarriage does not necessarily mean that it will happen again. 20-25% of women will have one miscarriage in their lives.

    Best of luck to you!

  9. listen to your doctors advise...  wait... have fun in the mean time practicing with a condom

  10. First of all, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. The doctor who was with you at the time sounds completely insensitive and unprofessional!! Follow YOUR doctor's advice with the pills and take it easy for the next few weeks. I would ask again at your next appointment in 2 weeks time about the ideal timeframe to start trying again. It's always best to hear it from a professional regarding your individual case. He may advise you to wait for the 2 months or he may give you the all-clear, you should know in 2 weeks.

I can only tell you what I know, that most women who have had a miscarriage go on to have healthy pregnancies later. Even women with unexplained recurrent miscarriages (defined as three or more in a row) have about a 75 per cent chance of carrying another pregnancy to term. However, it's best to wait a few months after each miscarriage before trying to get pregnant again. Most professionals who counsel parents who have lost a pregnancy say the same thing. You'll need some time to heal from the loss both physically and emotionally, even if you do feel ready.

I wish you the best of luck xx

  11. well the docs tell you to wait because sometimes your body is weak for evrything they have done to you you do lose alot of blood and for that they do tell you to wait so you can recover for that I suggest you  you to get in a healthy meal plan check out sites that are for you when trying to concieve and they will tell you exactly what vitamins you will need that why your body is ready i actually had an miscarriage also and I wanted to get pregnant right away and my doc suggested to plan it out he did put me in prenatal vitamins before and help me with a healthy plan to eat and I am prego right now thank god evrything is goin well and I am a diabetic and evrything is goin super well Good luck to you dont lose hope
