  1. No, I'm not surprised.  Tipsy played so much better than Andy anyway.  Besides, tennis is not just a big serve :)

  2. Couldn't be happier, players that have nothing to their game but big serves take the entertainment value out of Tennis for me.

  3. i'm shocked, and very sad.-

    :(

  4. Yeah, I am.  He was playing excellent in the first set, and had many break opportunities that he didn't take advantage of.  He still won the set 7-6, but lost momentum because he couldn't capitalize on the big points.  Roddick is a disappointment.  I expected more from him this year.

  5. Not really.. don't get me wrong, i like Andy, and i'm really upset that he lost..

But before this match, i remembered how good Janko was in AO against Federer... And Andy doesn't have mentality like Federer or Nadal.. He actually had his chances to take it to the 5th set, but he blew it...

I think Andy should change his attitude when facing players (top 10 or not) who was in a roll.. He always lost against them..

Examples (outside top 10 back then):

    - Joachim Johansson (US Open 04 or 05?)

    - Andy Murray (Wimbledon 06)

    - Richard Gasquet --> i think? (Wimbledon 07)

    - Philip Kohlschreiber (AO 08)

    hmpf... Andy...

  6. You people are dumb if you are surprised by him losing. I kept on saying all this time throughout this Tennis section that he was going to go down in the 3rd round or 4th round if he was lucky! By the way he was playing in the 3rd set I knew Andy was gonna lose. I agree completely with tennisrox. He has nothing, his game sucks... he would be ranked 100 without his serve...

  7. ya

  8. its surprising

  9. my opinion: all that keeps him alive in matches is his serve

if he didn't have his serve he would be ranked in the 60's

nothing is very special bout his game

his backhand is horrible and his forehand only works half the time.

so no, im not suprised he lost to janko b/c janko played very well and roddick's "pushing" didn't work

  10. I'm not surprised at all. Adje Tipsy!

  11. Yes and no.  Although I expected Roddick to do much better on the grass, he faced a really tough opponent in Tipsarevic, who extended Roddick to a close four-setter in the first round at Wimbledon a couple years ago, and who of course took Federer to 8-6 in the 5th at the Australian earlier this year.  I think Tipsarevic is poised to step out of Djokovic's shadow now, and today he made the most of his opportunity.  Still, I thought Roddick was going to win, so in that sense I am a little surprised, just not shocked.
