I have a heat massager that i bought from US. The country that i'm living in right now has a standard voltage of 220V. Now, it happened that i had a weird kind of voltage converter that only converts when the load is equal to or over 500w, it simply sends 220V to the output otherwise. As i wasnt aware of this, i plugged the massager in and it started to vibrate; after that poof! when i opened it up, i found a blown varistor "07D271K" (manufactured by CNR) now i cant find that part here, can i simply bypass the varistor and use the proper converter next time?

  1. I wouldn't.   It is possible that the varistor is being used to handle surge from the motor.  If you have the part number, try to find a part with similar specs.
