Wales full-back Lee Byrne was expected to miss his country’s Six Nations opener because of a two-week ban; however, the ERC have overturned it, meaning that head coach Warren Gatland will be able to select the Ospreys man for the clash against England on Saturday.
Seeing as the mix-up was not Byrne’s fault, it would have been harsh to impose such a ban. The fact that is was handed out in the first place is rather baffling and it’s another example of yet another u-turn from the sport’s regulators.
