ok ok.

But can the F-22 rule the skies like it is supposed to....Is it the Messerschmidt of the 21st century, or the Spitfire, that can undergo changes....

  1. The MiG-35 has conventional layout and can outmanuever anything in the skies. The basic Su-27 is no slouch either.

And the F-22 can do a Kulbit which is a testament to its aerobatics.

So in general, the canard layout doesnt give any great edge.

Edit: When did the Messerschmitts rule the skies? And why are you forgetting Thrust Vectoring? A canard also means drag and suggests design inefficiency.

  2. F22

  3. At least four.

  4. Almost all of them.  You have to get up pretty late in the morning to design a conventional airplane that can't out fly a canard.   A lot of people didn't notice when canards got popular that the airplanes were going so fast because they had relatively powerful engines for their small size.  Once conventional designs became available that used the same engines they proved themselves to be faster, and the canard went the way of all unsatisfactory designs - slowly.
