  1. I would end up getting a two story cage, if you can afford it!

Most are called Ferret cages, but Guinea Pigs love them as well!

  2. I think a 3 foot long by 2 feet wide by 2 feet high is fine.  Get them some of those plastic igloos to hide in.  If they are 2 females, they'll be happy to share the hidey hole together, but get two just in case.  And the cages with levels are pretty cool too.

  3. For two guinea pigs I would go with a 2x4 although you can get away with a 2x3 if you need to.  If you have boys though, I would highly recommend going with *at least* a 2x4.  Boys tend to need more space to get along.  Really, the bigger the better.

Please don't buy a ferret cage like someone suggested.  Guinea pigs are not like ferret or rats who enjoy a lot of vertical space.  Guinea pigs don't climb well and don't really need multiple levels, they need plenty of room to run laps.

Make sure that you get two of everything, so two water bottles, hay racks, hidey houses, etc.  Although they will probably both decide that they need that one particular house, it's good for them to have options.

  4. That's probably good.

    we have a 3' x 2'

    for our two piggies

and they have plenty of space even with the house and toys

  5. You need at least a 2*3 cage, preferably 2*4. You can get away with only one grid high, but if you have other pets, go 2 grids high and maybe add a small shelf with a ramp. A top would also be good if you have other pets or are doing a 1 grid high cage. So you would need at about 20 grids, maybe a little more or less.

For the chloroplast, build the cage first and measure it, then go buy the amount you need. If you are making a 2*3 cage, you will need about a 4*4 feet piece. You can get 2*4 foot pieces and tape them together. Any bigger than that, it is cheaper to get a 4*8 foot sheet. Hardware stores do have it, usually in different colors. The guinea pig cages site has a search for materials by city. You could also try stores that make signs or used ads for some stores or after an election.

You also should get some Zip ties to help support the cage and make doors. Duct tape is best for the chloroplast. An exacto knife is the best option to cut the chloroplast.
