Is it possible to make CLR Programs in Visual Studio 2000? I bought Ivor Horton's beginning Visual C++ 2008, and it talks about CLR programmign and it has something to do with ECMA or something, but I am kind of confused. Is it same as console applications or do I need something?

  1. CLR stands for Common Language Runtime and it's part of .Net.

I don't recall a Visual Studio 2000? The version before .NET was visual studio 6 and it is not set up to use the CLR.

As for ECMA, that's probably a reference to ECMAscript, Microsoft's Jscript implementation. And Horton's book is probably talking about using Jscript for scripting stuff in windows.
