C.J. Wilson-Adrian Beltre combo help Texas Rangers rout Los Angeles Angels 7-1 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ third baseman Adrian Beltre and starter C.J. Wilson both shined as Texas defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-1 at Rangers Ballpark, Texas, on 18
April.
Beltre struck a three-run homer while Wilson had nine strike-outs in the Rangers’ victory.
Wilson expressed his excitement as, “I felt a little bit more myself. But considering the last couple of starts I've had were pretty below average for me, to go out there and throw that many pitches and keep the scoring down and keep the pace up, that was
good.”
Wilson gave up two go-ahead singles before he struck out two key players, Bobby Abreu and Howard Kendrick in the start of third inning. Torii Hunter did not score a run on one hit after the strike-out of Abreu. Wilson threw 116 pitches, but he did not feel
satisfied with that as he wished to strike-out batters in minimum throws. He also wanted to improve his pitches for the next games against the Kansas City Royals.
Beltre joined the Rangers as a free agent after their first outing to the World Series. He started his debut in the American West League and gave his team five consecutive wins. However, in the last game, Beltre stole the runs by lifting the shot over the
centre-field spot off the Angels’ starter Ervin Santana to take a 6-0 lead.
It was considered as the second consecutive game for Beltre to get three RBIs singles on three shots. He showed up a superb confidence to his team officials from his play and believed that he can face any pitcher. Adrian had more than four RBIs in 16 games
of the current season.
The Angels’ Manager Mike Scioscia did not feel much disappointment and gave an aggressive statement as he said, “I don't think overall he was locked in, but he wasn't far off. Those guys beat us today. We didn't execute some things on the mound and at the
plate, but we're not that far off.”
Santana allowed two walks with three strike-outs in more than five innings. He had also an exemplary Win-Loss record of 11-8 in 22 games of his career. The Angels’ pitchers gave up just 10 runs during last five games with an ERA of 1.98 which will be a worth-seeing
effort in such a big event.
