C.J. Wilson all-set to bid farewell to Texas Rangers – MLB Update
After a disappointing end to what was a fabulous season for the Texas Rangers, the management is now content on making way for free agent starting pitcher and ace, C.J. Wilson, to explore the rough waters of free agency and strike a possible deal with one
of the many franchises that are already in his pursuit. This was confirmed by the player’s agent, Bob Garber, who is expected to call the ballclub for a detailed discussion in this regard.
The management made it clear that the bull-pen will not panic without Wilson in the ranks and that the depth of the pitching’ staff was enough to remain competent of earning a qualification for a possible third consecutive Fall Classic. Although it is a
bit too early to make this assertion, the team has always aimed high.
Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels asserted that there has been no contact from either the player or his agent for the past few days and that the management is prepared for a call seeking permission for Wilson’s departure from the ballclub and related
procedures. Regarding the price of Wilson, Daniels confirmed that it will be something which the team ownership will decide. Nevertheless, he added that Wilson has some good offers by a few teams and that will be given due consideration in determining a price
for the ace.
When asked about his opinion on Wilson, Daniels stressed that he would prefer a situation where the Rangers lure Wilson back into the bull-pen, but given the reality, it is something which might not be possible. To ensure that Wilson no longer plays in the
American League West division, Daniels was of the viewpoint that his transfer to the Miami Marlins will be much better for the Rangers as compared to a move to the Los Angeles Angels, which would mean a more oft-faced competition between Wilson and Texas.
News is rife that Wilson is all-set to select between either the Marlins or the Angels and a lot will depend on the final offer is. As of now, it is believed that the newly cash-rich Marlins have extended a six-year offer to Wilson while the Angels have
offered a five-year deal to the starting pitcher.
