The Texas Rangers managed to beat the Oakland Athletics 8-1 on September 11, in front of a wild crowd at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington as the home side swept the series against the A’s with three straight wins. It was left to C. J. Wilson to bring in
the honours with his stint on the mound and he did not disappoint.
The star player managed to pick up 11 strike-outs, five hits and a walk from eight scoreless innings of pitching. In the previous game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the ace availed his first career shut-out. Much to the appreciation of the fans, Wilson demonstrated
that feeling at home. The star has a career high wins tally of 16 victories and six losses. His current earning runs average is on 3.01 and things can get better by the end of the regular season.
The hurler is enjoying his time on the mound and he was expressive about his throwing condition under the Rangers’ supervision.
"I love it, because that's what I expect out of myself -- to go out there and throw well," Wilson said. "That's all you work for. That's why, in the offseason, you run hills and lift weights, stay hydrated and get your rest. This is what it's all about right
here. These last couple weeks are going to be the entire season for us."
The A’s were locked out of the game in dominating fashion and they only managed to pull a run in the ninth. Manager Bob Melvin was supportive of Wilson and he guaranteed the starter would handle himself well in the post season campaign if the Rangers managed
to qualify.
"Certainly the way he's pitched against us and looking at his record, I don't see why not," Melvin said.
With Ron Washington back his bid for the top spot on the pitching rotation, Wilson is gaining popularity. Fans are hoping he can deliver in the playoffs when the season concludes. It will be exciting to see how Wilson can manage to carry his winning momentum
forward into his next match-up.
