C.J. Wilson shines as Texas Rangers defeat Boston Red Sox 4-0 - MLB Update

Texas Rangers’ starter, C.J. Wilson had a notable day with his pitching as he permitted just four hits in just over six innings pitches with an ERA of 3.08 and gave the Rangers a 4-0 victory against the Boston Red Sox at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas
on August 22.
In the first two innings, the batters struggled in front of curveballs and did not post any run. Adrian Gonzalez singled to left-field and Dustin Pedroia walked during the first inning but at centre-field, Marco Scutaro flied out and Darnell McDonald grounded
out to pitcher.
Similarly, Rangers also looked powerless at the bottom of second inning as Michael Young singled towards centre-field but at right-field, Nelson Cruz flied out, at second base Mitch Moreland grounded out as Mike Napoli struck-out. During the third inning,
Rangers scored their first run to take a 1-0 lead.
Elvis Andrus singled to left-field, Carlos Gentry posted one run while Ian Kinsler moved to second and third base on the throwing error of Red Sox fielders. Fourth and fifth innings were again in pitcher’s favour as they did not surrender even a single run.
Wilson struck-out four batters and gave up only two walks on his 110 pitches.
Rangers’ batters smashed three quick runs at the bottom of sixth inning to raise their lead 4-0. Napoli struck a three-run homer (405 feet) towards left-centre while Josh Hamilton and Young both added two runs jointly to end the three-run campaign for Rangers.
Seventh, eighth and ninth inning went in pitcher’s way as they threw the ball with full accuracy.
Speaking to interpreter, Wilson said, “To come back home and put the red (jerseys) on and prevent scoring was a big deal. 'On the menu' is what we joke about.”
Rangers’ manager, Ron Washington said, “That situation right now, we had Bedard on the ropes. ... We certainly needed it because you never know what may happen in a one-run ballgame. It gave us a cushion and it gave us an opportunity to hold on.”
At the top of ninth inning, Gonzalez walked but at centre-field Pedroia flied out and at second base Carl Crawford grounded out without taking runs. As a result, Rangers led off the four-game series 1-0 against the Red Sox at Texas.
