C. J. Wilson’s deal with the Texas Rangers unknown – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ manager Jon Daniels is to have a meeting on Tuesday, December 6 with Bob Garber to look into the possibility of signing C. J. Wilson. There are reports that the Rangers are immensely interested and putting all their efforts to make it
possible.
Wilson, the free-agent pitcher, will have a clearer picture of the deal with the Rangers probably by the end of this week. With the free-agent market arousing more buzz, there has been huge media attention to this deal as well.
Wilson stated that he knew that the Rangers, along with other teams, have been interested in him. As to what lies ahead is something that C. J. Wilson does not know himself.
“I know J.D. is going to have dinner with Bob tonight," Wilson said by phone Tuesday afternoon. "As far as I know, the teams that have been interested in me are still interested in me. I don't know if anything has changed beyond that."
While Mark Buehrle is another prospect, C. J. Wilson seems to have occupied much attention and interest than anyone else. The Rangers, prior to the beginning of next season, want to secure a deal with a pitcher so as to charge the roster.
But whatever the end result of the ongoing discussions in this regard, interestingly, C. J. Wilson himself seems hardly bothered about it. What he focuses upon is his body and arm, his normal routine so as to be able to pitch well next year.
“It's a weird enough process to live it, let alone read about it or listen to others talk about it," Wilson said. "I'm just focused on my body and my arm and getting ready for next year. I'm on the way to the gym now I'm focused on my normal routine.”
Among other teams which have been looking into this offer are the Los Angeles Angels and the Miami Marlins. As for Washington Nationals, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees, there are reports that their interest is not as intense as the Marlins,
or for that matter, the Rangers themselves.
