C.M. Punk: Chris Jericho has never been ‘The Man’ like John Cena – WWE News
C.M. Punk, the current WWE champion, in his recent interview spoke about Chris Jericho and explained why Jericho could never make it to the top. According to Punk, Chris Jericho has never been ‘The Man’ in WWE, and he has always been overshadowed by his
fellow fighters. He said, “There's always, I think, somebody that has overshadowed him.”
Punk said that John Cena instead has been the champion people have always wanted to see. In his words, “I guess an argument can be made that John Cena is still 'The Man.' But the numbers don't lie with merchandising, ratings and everything else. We're not
trying to hotshot the title around or play hot potato with it. We're giving people a champion they can believe in. And Jericho was never really that guy. He was never really, I guess, the ambassador John Cena has been and that I've been lately. That's what
I meant by that.”
He was then asked about his encounter with Randy Orton last year at WrestleMania 27 and what was he thinking back then. Punk said that back then he was going through a rough phase in his career and all he wanted to show the management was that they are losing
good talent if they lose him. He said that he was focused on stealing the show and that he was not really thinking about his future but he wanted to prove his mettle.
He said that he went out there and fought Randy Orton. He rated the match as the best ‘pure’ match in the WWE has ever produced. He said that he gave his best during that match and finally he succeeded in showing the world that he indeed is the man.
C.M. Punk is scheduled to take on Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 28 on April 1. While Chris Jericho has been boasting about his importance within the WWE Universe, it is apparent that he is playing the negative side, which means his chances of winning are
rare. There are even speculations that this might be Y2J’s last WrestleMania and so he will give out his best.
