Why is it advantageous for a desert plant to be a C4 plant?

C4 plants are warm climatic plants, but desert plants are CAM which means they open up their stomates at night due to the lack of water in the air and soil. C4 and CAM plants are related to its 2 system of photosynthesis which photosynethis takes place within 2 sections of the leaf or in CAM plants the stem. Plus another thing about C4 plants is that the plant can also close its stomates during a hot spell, like mid day, when the sun is high. Another thing is that the majority of CAM and C4 plants is that they have tap roots which store water when its not advailable.
