CA concerned over BCCI’s denial to DRS – Cricket News Update
Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) usual staunch stance over the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) is a matter of grave concern for Cricket Australia (CA), which fears that the absence of the technology will cause controversial decisions during
the upcoming 4-Test series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 and India, starting from December 26, 2011.
Like the past events, the Indian cricket managers have rejected the use of DRS during this series as well, stirring up a controversy in the host nation which is h**l-bent to play the high-stakes matches under Hot Spot cameras.
Talking to the media today, a CA spokesman said, “Our view is well documented, we are a supporter of DRS. It was discussed.”
Australia coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969, added, “I have been in favour of it, I always have been.”
Australia’s top broadcaster, Channel Nine, has announced to use its own version of DRS to provide clear footings of all decisions to its viewers. Moreover, the channel has severely censured the BCCI for its rigid stand on the innovative technology that is
considered to be a valuable addition in the game.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bradley-Edward-McNamara-c48280, the Executive Producer of the channel’s cricket coverage, told, “We are not really sure what they are basing that on. I just hope they are not basing their judgements on the inferior technology instead of the good one. We put a lot of time,
effort and money into making it as accurate as possible. We are fairly certain we are using the best technology available.”
In the contemporary cricket world, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) had to make the use of Hot Spot
optional during its annual meeting at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919 a few months back.
The Men in Blue are not ready to accept even the modified edition of the system, which they consider to be manually-operated and prone to errors. However, these objections are baseless.
India did not allow the DRS during their last tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in August 2011, heralding a number of controversial decisions.
