can someone pls list where i need to check for traffic in intersections, turns, and business/urban/residental areas? thx

  1. The DMV should have a free booklet, or very low cost, that lists the driver rules.

    The rules will vary by the complexity of the intersection.

    Basic rule of thumb is that you need to signal where you going, and you honor all traffic signs, then when you are turning across some lanes, whether the traffic in there has right of way or not, you check to make sure no one in your way ... be it pedestrian, other vehicle, whatever.

    You plan to change lanes?

    Signal, check if clear, change when it is safe, turn off your signal.

    You plan to turn a corner ... even if you have right of way (eg.g green light, you still need to check on the converging traffic, and make sure no pedestrian just around the corner.
