Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA) has congratulated their umpire Daryl Harper, for leading a brilliant career as an umpire, after he announced his retirement from umpiring in international matches on July 6. Harper sought an early retirement after facing severe criticism
from India during their first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, at Kingston.
CA’s acting Chief Executive officer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Brown-c75791, said that Daryl has been serving the sport for a very long time. Mentioning his career achievements, he added that Daryl stood in 95 Test matches, 174 One-Day internationals and 10 Twenty20 international
games, which is the proof of his highest degree of professionalism over a long and outstanding career.
“Cricket Australia is proud of one of our own having achieved such a fine record and we look forward the next generation for Australian umpires benefiting from his accrued wisdom when Daryl helps our umpire education and training program in the coming years,”

Daryl’s umpiring was criticised by Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, who did not name him directly but said that his side would have won the match with a bigger margin, if correct decisions were made. The tourists won the first Test against hosts by a
margin of 63 runs.
Later, the legendary umpire http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harold-Dennis-Bird-c61576 also supported Dhoni for his criticism and said that the criticism from the captain should be taken positively for the development of sport.
As a result of criticism from India, the Australian refused to offer his umpiring http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Services-c840 in the third Test between Indian and West Indies, which will be played on July 6, at Roseau.
