CA to sell out Sydney and Melbourne teams for Big Bash League
Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA) has declared to sell out a Sydney and a Melbourne outfits to the private investors for the T20 Big Bash League that is due in next summer. The league has been revamped recently and new format contains eight city based teams.
Both Sydney and Melbourne have two teams each. The CSA will put one from each for sale.
Talking to the media here on today, the CA Chief, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Alexander-Sutherland-c65430, told, “It will be subject to terms and conditions we are satisfied with. We are not going to sell at any cost, but we are going to go to the market over the coming months.”
This decision has been taken after a two-day meeting of the board. The board officials discussed all the pros and cons of the private ownership and then decided to sell the two sides.
However, it is not yet clear that which of the two from each team will be sold. It will be determined with a mutual consent of CA and state bodies.
On the other hand, the Australian Cricket Association (ACA) is seeking a big share from the profits.. But Sutherland thinks that the dispute will be solves soon. He said, “We both need each other. We know we need a positive outcome and resolution.”
Sutherland also told that as per the initial policy, the whole profit was to go to the treasure of CA which would allocate to ACA.
ACA is still tight-lipped on this matter and has not issued any media statement.
The contracting of the players is still pending due to a dispute between players’ associations and organizers on the issue of payments and fixtures arrangement for the tournament.
As per the new format of the tournament, the two top teams will qualify for the Champions League T20. Each of the Australian state will have two teams in the tournament with an exception of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 and Victoria.
The eight teams include Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Renegades, Melbourne Stars, Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.
