  1. I was born and raised in hawaii and here is a cake that is actually served at a real luau.

    ENJOY =]

    Hawaiian Cake

1 (18 1/4  ounce) package yellow cake mix

    1 1/4 cups cold milk

1 (3 1/2  ounce) package instant vanilla pudding

1 (20  ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained

1 cup whipping cream (standard size)

1 (3  ounce) package cream cheese, softened

    1/4 cup sugar

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1/2 cup flaked coconut, toasted

Prepare and bake the cake according to package directions, using a greased 13 in x 9 in x 2 in baking pan.

    Cool.

In a bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix; let stand to thicken.

    Stir in pineapple.

    Spread over cake.

In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth.

Beat in 1 cup whipped topping.

    Fold in remaining topping.

    Spread over Pudding.

    Sprinkle with coconut.

Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.

  2. Buy 2 yellow cake mixes.  Bake one in 2 round pans. Bake the other in a 9x12 rectangle. Top one round layer with pineapple filling and put the other round layer on top.  Top with penuche (brown sugar) frosting and use a spoon to make it look like the body of a pineapple.  Cut the rectangle into thin triangles and arrange them at the top of the round cake to look like the leaves at the top of the pineapple and ice them with green frosting.  If you have extra cake from the rectangle, just frost the pieces and use them around the main cake.

  3. why not just have the decorator add fresh flowers

  4. Do you mean, decorated in a hawaiian theme or just suitable?  Pineapple upside down cake is always delicious...If you are having a professional one designed, the artist should be able to offer you some ideas..maybe some tiki gods, a beach limbo scene, something of that sort.

  5. For the flavor what about something fruity...butter rum cake with a layer of strawberry or mango filling in the middle.

Decorationgs......Theres alot you can do. it depends on how the rest of your party is outfitted. You can have the cake decorator do a beach scene with different color frostings. You know, sand, ocean, palm trees, sun setting over the water, etc. Or you can do something with real flowers. Like putting borders and trim along the edges of the cake with big tiger lillies and other exotic flowers on the top and edges. Or you can do fresh fruit on the top to. Use stuff like mango, kiwi, pineapple, strawberry's etc and do a large spiral design on top of cake with them.

Good luck and have a good time!

  6. Try a white cake with pineapple filling, or even pineapple cake with a bavarian creme filling.  As far as decorating it, maybe you could get some novelty type things at the store like little grass skirted people and hula dancers or bongo playing guys...something.  Then decorate the cake to look like hald ocean and half land, put some palm trees around and some rocks or something....

  7. I always liked chocolate cake with hazelnut filling.  Wherever you get it made should offer you sample flavors to choose from.

  8. I agree with the pinapple upside down cake, you can't go wrong with that at a Luau party!  Check out these links!.........

  9. I liked your cake choice. If you used that theme. Don't to the tiers and changed the colors you could make this work very well. Brighter island colors can look sophisticated and not childish if done correctly.

  10. Buy one at a cake store!!
