  1. Hi, I have found most Americans to be both polite and friendly and always feel at ease in their company. I have spent some time working with your armed forces and they are very professional and patriotic. The girls over there made me feel very welcome, maybe that was the Royal Navy uniform, but hey I still love them all (dont read that bit out) There is quite a bit of anger around world at the moment over your government and it's policies, I hasten to add that I am not one of those people.

There is a tendancy for Americans to believe they invented everything from the telephone to the television, which is simply not the case, you did give the world the nuclear bomb though (thanks for that).

Your question asks what do I like about America, the answer is simple, it's the Americans themselves. What do I hate? I guess that would have to be American Football, I dont understand it and I just don't get all that padding, have you ever tried a decent game like rugby, now there is a real mans game.

Good luck with your assignment hope I helped a little.

I am English by the way

  2. Ooh, cool!  My parents have just got back from America today - they went away for three weeks leaving me to fend for myself!  Apparently Americans are great, they were nicer down south than up north, don't know why that is!  And it seems like all the waiters and shopkeepers were falling head over heels to help them out, which is nice!

Um, I don't know much really about America, but it seems like Americans all love their country without really knowing anything about their government and the politics - here in the UK most people can't stand the parliament, and we aren't particularly patriotic (not in my neck of the woods anyway), whereas Americans all seem to think their country is the best in the world (its nice to be optimistic I guess, particularly compared to us who read the paper and want to weep!) but I don't like the way it seems, from here, that Bush and all his cronies are pulling the wool over your eyes.

  3. The Problem is George Bush has turned a lot of the worlds opinions against America because of the way he has behaved over the past few years.

But most people don't seem to realize that this had nothing to do with the American people themselves, and they equate his - and his administration's - behaviour, to all of you.

So now in Britain if you ask the average Joe, "What d'you think of America"?

They'll say "Bloody Americans...... Who do they think they are" and the like.

The way I see it is............ The average Americans very thoughts, are jostled this way and that with the use of Spin and  propaganda.

Your Government uses the power of the Media to Mould you into whatever shape it wants.  (Its the same here)

It can make up reasons for you all to hate Whoever or wherever they want,  and if youre one of the ones to stand up and say you dissagree.......... You'll be called a Traitor... Or Un-American, and you'll be getting called it by stupidest people you've ever met, who dont even know the first thing about what they're talkin about, but have all the same, been encouraged into it by the media and other people who dont actually think for themselves !

But I have to say......... apart from that,  Americans are on the whole very nice people.

You were just a bit unfortunate to have had G Bush for president,  along with all his Oil ritch mates, who couldnt wait to get their Hands on Iraqs Supply,  so had to make up a few different stories till he found the right one to con you all - and all of us - into supporting his Oil grab...... I mean War.

We do admire the Americans........ even if sometimes we like to "Take the Pee" sometimes.

Oooooh, now I'm off for my morning Tea.

    Toodle-pip.

  4. I respect the patriotic side of america. I could never feel like that about the queen.

I think george bush is a fool, who is going to leave a big scar on peoples views of america for some time, as he makes you all come across as a bit silly.

I really don't like the fact that you pay for healthcare (at a very high price).

And I especially don't like the fact that they never know that scotland isn't part of england.

  5. use skype :p

  6. I like the Americans but they do appear to be very self absorbed. They think the whole world is watching them but its just not the case. They also appear to be obsessed with talking about themselves and asking people what they like and dislike about the United States.

They also appear to be very creative and positive.
