Okay, so in late July I brought my camera to the beach(yep..stupid me.. i know) It was in my bag and all of a sudden I realized it had little bits of sand in it. I got the best off I could(It was DRY sand.) It worked fine until 10 minutes later it said ''turn the power off and on again'' I did as I was told and the same thing happend. About 5 minutes later, it worked perfectly.

However, on August.12 it STOPPED working. :( It said ''turn the power off and on again'' and the lens would force to go out but go back in. The lens just wouldn't work. Yesterday, however, I was so fed up i just turned my camera on, pulled out lens hard and voila! It worked again, and took pictures were great. However...... when I zoom in at the very farthest it can zoom at I can't zoom back in, and it says ''turn the power off and on again'' So I do, and it works just not that part! What do I do? Should I get it cleaned.. does it cost money, if so how much?? Is this fixable ? HELP!

PS- It's a sony cybershot DSC-W80 (pink one) Thanks

  1. awwe. :(

I have the same camera too, I love it!

Can't believe it worked again from sand, that's really good.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like you have some sand still in there, so

you should definitely get it cleaned before it may do some more damage and yes it's going to cost money, I have no idea how much though.. it's definitely not going to be that cheap. Good luck with everything and especially that camera of yours! xo

  2. It sounds like there's probably still sand in there jamming things up.  It will need to be taken apart to be cleaned out.  Don't try this yourself.  Look through your camera's paperwork to see if there is a list of places to send your camera for cleaning, or if they have a toll free helpline to call.

It will cost money, but I'm not sure how much.
