  1. You should be able to. Quad band phones are for those who do a lot of International traveling!

Quad band phones use all 4 bands one at a time to keep you connected. These are 850/900/1800/1900 MHZ. As long as you can connect to one of these in your area (almost all phones will) then you should be fine! Phones built for the U.S. will usually be the 850/1900 MHZ type. Europe uses the 1800 MHZ band most while a lot of Asian Countries use the 900 MHZ band.

Dual band phones are more common for the U.S. market, so I'm assuming this is where you live. The 850 MHZ band is usually used out in the countryside since it travels long distances better and the 1900 MHZ band is used mostly in populated areas where there will be more people on the system and using more data networks for files, pictures, email, texts, downloads, city maps and so on.

Since phones are not just phones any longer, but devices capable of many tasks, these two bands are used rather heavily!

Quad band phones are still pretty expensive even though they are more common then they used to be. Try visiting my free website below. I have always been kind of a radio geek and I have a section that explains the difference between types of service and antenna and amplifier usage. I think this will anser all your questions!
