  1. I have never seen a Carom Billiard table in any Canadian public venue. I suspect, if you want to play Carom Billiards on this side of the Atlantic you are going to have to buy a table without pockets (these are available by special order) and play at home until you can get enough friends interested in it to also buy dedicated tables. Maybe with your enthusiasm you can eventually start a league rotating from home to home. But finding this game publically played in Canada is highly unlikely because of the costly club owner investment in special pocketless tables on the chance more people will take interest. Good Luck.

EDIT: You got me thinking so I searched for a Carom Billiard place in Canada... Sure enough, in a listing that included all of North America you have two choices to go play Three Cushions in a club and they are both in Quebec. So, what do I know I play with an English Cue, lol. The following is the paste of the listing.

  2. I had the same problem in Texas.  In fact when you tell some one that there is a form of pool that does not have pockets they are dumbfounded.  Look at university recreation halls, they often have 3C tables to cater to their latin and asian students.  Check out the latin quarter in your town or the asian section.  3C Billiards is far more popular in Latin America and Asia that it is in the USA.

  3. This question sure brought back some old and fond memories for me.  When I went to college at the University of New Hampshire (1959-1963) we played three-cushion all the time.  They had one table, I think it was larger than the regular pool tables at least a 5 x 10 or maybe it was 6 x 12.  It is the only one I have ever seen in my life so I can understand your frustration.

I remember a friend told me (back then) that a regular pool table could be converted to pocket-less and used as a 3 cushion table (or straight rail).  I googled this and found a site that mentions them (they are called pocket plugs) and even a site that had to do with a patent for them.

Sorry I can't seem to find a site that sells them.  I know it wouldn't be the same as there would be rail imperfections and you might not find the right sized pool table, but it is at least interesting.

We used to toy with 5 and even 7 cushion shots.  Of course we would set the balls up to optimize our chances, but we would make them once in a while.  We tried some Massay stuff but didn't have the necessary cues so we never got very good at that but it was fun.  We tried some stuff that would be found in artistic billiards with similar results.  The artistic billiard players will have as many as 15-20 different cue sticks to help their game.

Thanks for a great question that brought back these memories.  I gave u a star.
