CAN MY DINTIST DO THIS??? 10 points!!!!!?

ok i have a dentist appointment tomorrow and i used to have braces ( about a year ago) and while i had them on my gums began to pull downword covering the teeth in the top of my mouth,... this is just my anual 6 month checkup thing but do you think if i ask the dentist will scrape my gums so i can actually finally beable to see the teeth that are being covered by my gums

  2. my dentist actually did a gingivectomy for me after i had my braces removed. he removed the excess gum tissue for my 4 front teeth. it wasn't free though, i had to pay 75$ per tooth, costing $300 total.

  3. Some general dentist's can trim the gingiva back, but most will refer you out to a periodontist (gum specialist) to that. Its called either crown lengthening or gingivectomy (depending on whether you need bone removed with the gums or not. Which that will depend on whats called a "biologicl with". We all must have 3mm of gum tissue from the edge of the gums to where the bone begins, otherwise the gums will just grow back down.

    I'd ask you dentist about it and see what he says.
