Hi, my friend told me she logged everything she ate for 30 days. (All pretty healthy food) - kept calories at 1000 -1200 , absolutely no more. She barely exercised, just regular "living movement " through out each day, a bit of walking...and lost 25 lbs in 30 days. Keep in mind she is/was 60 pounds overweight, now has about 35 to go. I havent seen her yet, she said she feels great and her cholestorol is down too. Her doctor said the heavier you , as in if you're "obese", 50lbs or over, you can safely lose more than 2 -3 lbs a week, if you do it a healthy way. So its really possible to do that?... of course she had an incredible amount of will power too!! Anyone else do anything similar? (i've heard a food journal really helps too)

  1. you've never seen the Biggest Loser?

of course they exercised harder but also i think your friend also has a reasonably fast metabolism that didn't slow down as she cut calories.

she should not expect the rest to come off as fast even if she still maintains the same calorie range but it will come off. good for her.

i counted calories to lose 15lbs. in 9 weeks. 10 lost in the last 5weeks eating 1300 to 1500 cals. wrote down every bite and the calorie count in a notebook. counting calories has the advantage of knowing how much you are going to eat ahead of time so no quess work as to how much you eat or will eat.you just shut it off if you want to lose weight more than you want to eat more.

  2. When dieting one loses a lot of water weight early on, so I think it is reasonable that she is telling the truth. On "The biggest loser" they eat 7 calories per pound per day and limit the fat intake to near zero, plus do a lot of exercise under professional guidence. They lose 10 pounds or more some weeks. Hope this helps!
