Depends, if you want a quick fix, use tampons, they absorb all the blood.

But if you don't really mind (your not going anywhere so you dont need all the blood absorbed) use pads. And also, if its your first period, I recommend pads for the first 3 months. Once you get used to your periods, you can start using tampons.

the only time i wear tampons is if we go of some wear. if I'm at the house, which i am all day cuz I'm home schooled, then i wear pads.  but like the second person said, its better to wait if this is ur first period cuz it takes alot of  time getting used to just pads. but it all depends on the person. 1 person might like pads and hate tampons, and vice versa, or some people might like both. hope this helped. i prefer tampax cardboard lite dayz tampons. even on my heavy days cuz it feels better than regular.

Pads are safer....with Tapons you run the risk of TSS (toxic shock syndrome) but if you wear one you can go swimming.

no! tampons are better. you have to change them more often but when you have them in you can't feel anything and it's alot more comfortable then a pad. it doesn't hurt when putting it in if you take a couple deep breaths first. and you get the hang at it after a while. not to mention you can swim with them and its alot more comfortable with playing sports

well, everyone has their preference. the ONLY time i wear tampons is when i'm swimming. pad's are more comfortable because i can feel the tampon when i sit down. :P gross, huh? pad's are just so much more comfortable. even if you have to change them more often.

you have to try each one and see which one works better for you. everyone is different.

I prefer pearl tampons only they are very protective and I don't have that pad feeling, especially on really heavy days, I don't like to sit in it.

I agree with the other answers, I actually prefer wearing tampons when I'm not at home and then when I get home I use a pad. You don't feel the tampon especially if you insert it properly, I like Pearl tampons they are really good. Def do not sleep with a tampon on!!! To be safe you can also wear panty liners when you are wearing the tampon, in case you have a really heavy period. Also, you have to know on which days to wear the tampons for heavy period, regular and lilght days as this will make a difference on whether or not you leak through. Also, please do not leave it on for more than a few hours, change the tampon often throughout the day!

Edit: No the only way to get that Toxic Shock Syndrome is if you leave it in for many hours at a time! If you change it every 4-6 hours you will not get that rare illness.

well alot of people prefer pads because it's safer, and they feel more comfortable

if you want something invading up your space all day, then use a tampon. but, theres a higher chance of getting leaks while wearing a tampon, too. and if you prefer both, then alternate between them

It depends on what you like.Tampons are nice because you can go swimming and you don't have to deal with seeing the blood as much as pads. But pads are nice because you don't have to worry about TSS.
