Jean-Marie Guéhenno currently serves as the head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations.

The 10 main troop-contributing countries to UN peacekeeping operations as of March 2007 were Pakistan (10,173), Bangladesh (9,675), India (9,471), Nepal (3,626), Jordan (3,564), Uruguay (2,583), Italy (2,539), Ghana, Nigeria and France.

There is no one "Peacekeeper", the Units/Missions are derived from all member Nations, usually heavy on the developing Nations participating, largely due to the use of the larger, developed Nations as Peacekeepers looks like imperialism, and an advantage for developing countries is that they get training, equiptment, and salaries for their forces, often beyond what they, as developing Nations could afford themselves.
