  1. no no and no

  2. no u cant ride a pony until he is AT LEAST 3 years old and maybe even 4 years depending how mature he is

  3. if its a tranad ponie then yes that is fun

  4. No, I think you should let him grow a bit more.

  5. You could IF it is a pony that can carry heavy weight such as a n exmoor dartmoor welsh mountain if it is lieght weight i would ride it less and maybe put it out on loan for some times if you have younger realitves maybe they can ride him/her.

  6. I don,t know but it is hard to see how 7st could hurt anything.

  7. I think your too tall.

Q.I am 5ft 5 and weigh 8 stone 1 what is the correct size for me? Also is it ok for me to ride a 11hand Shetland???

  8. If you even have to ask this you shouldn't have a pony!!! 2 year old is FAR too young! He shouldn't even start being backed and mouthed until he is 3 and should be closer to 4 before he is being ridden. He needs to backed properly, by someone who knows how to do it, not someone who's been told how to do it on Y!A.

At 5'3" you're too tall and heavy for an 11hh pony.

  9. He is too young to be ridden by a rider of yr hight. Even if you are a 1st class rider, his size will make you less balanced and will put too much strain on still growing muscle and bone.

Too many small ponies are wreaked because ppl take advantage of their size to "make" them do things..ask yr self if you would be willing to do the same with a 17 hh-er??

A native pony will still be growing until he is 6 or so, at this age he should only be asked to do some in hand work..MAYBE a little light lunging. At 3 he could start very light backing with a small rider...until he is 4 he shouldn't be asked to school, hack for longer than 45 mins or canter.

Having worked in the racing industry where TB's are routinely broken at 18 mnths -2yrs...I can tell you no good will come of early riding, mentaly OR physically.

Injoy bonding with him with some in hand work with poles and toys in a school..or 10 mins "hacks" ..there is so much you can do for him before anyone sits on him..good luck :)

  10. No..They Have to Be broken first then turned away for a year and brought back into work.

plus 11h is too small for a person your age thats why little kids normally have ponies this size. you need to be looking for a 14.3hh or 15.3hh sort of pony/horse this would suit you better.

2 is to young your suppose to bring them into work at about 3.

  11. you will be able to ride him, but wait untill he is 4 or 5 years old, as he is still growing and you could damage his back at the moment

  12. Do not ride your pony. I generally do not like the idea of riding them because they are a lot more fragile than regular horses.
