Question:

CANON REBEL XT ERROR 999

I think that is the problem I have...I was working with long exposures last night and all of a sudden my camera stopped working. The camera will not take pictures, and wont even focus~... I was working in very humid conditions... Is this what caused it to stop working?

How do I go about fixing this? Please help!! It would be much appreciated. On the normal setting the numbers [999] are displayed...

This is very bothersome.

  1. Unfortunately Canon is very non-descriptive with their errors. If I remember correctly 999 stands for "generic lens error". Basically that could be anything.

Try taking your battery out and putting it back in. If that doesn't work try another lens.

You may also want to try cleaning the lens contacts. Take your lens off and use an eraser to gently rub the metal contacts on both the lens and the camera body.

    Good luck!
