Hey guys, i know nothing about car audio seriously, im only young this is my first car so yeah take it easy first up please lol

I have a kenwood head unit, 2 speakers and a sub. How many channel amp and how many watt amp minimum can i get? (i plan to get another set of 6" fronts by the way before i install all of this stuff..) any suggestions on the front speakers aswell? and the specs are as followed:

I have yet to get a second set of speakers yet (suggestions?) but i have a pair of 6x9 sony xplod - xs-v6930a , 260w peak, 80w rated, independence 4 for the rear parcel shelf.

subwoofer i have is - pioneer ts-w301r, 800w max, 150w nom, 4 independence.

also have a S****y amp (ebay branded i think) that my friend had laying around that he gave to me for free dont know anything about it. Rockwood USA amp - 334x 365CRX (300 watts) but this im just going to junk away i think not really worth my time i guess lol

So yeah thats pretty much it... just want to know what kind of amp to get to run my sub and pair of 6x9's and a pair of 6".

Cheers guys sorry again for the confusion..

  1. There are a couple of approaches you can take. Some companies do make five channel amplifiers. You'd use four channels for four speakers, and the the fifth channel for the amplifier. The downfall to this, is that the subwoofer normally gets under powered, because the majority of five channel amplifiers can't push enough power for all five channels. The ideal approach would to be to buy a four channel amplifier for all four speakers, and then a mono amplifier for the subwoofer. I'd first test the amplifier your friend gave you. It might not be the best brand around, but it doesn't sound like you're trying to achieve a competition type system. For a first time around system, and for learning experiences it might be better to start cheap, and build your way up. If you have money to blow, then by all means go big. The cheapest mono amplifier that I see at Best Buy is $199.99 and it more than doubles in wattage than what your Pioneer subwoofer can handle. You'd more than likely blow it. As far as a four channel amplifier for your speakers, Alpine has a model that'll push 75watts RMS X 4 @ 2ohms. The model is MRP-F300 and it cost $205.99. If you wanted to go with the five channel amplifier approach then Infinity makes one, and the model is REF5350A. Hope this helps out. Good luck.
