Its supposed to lower myinsurancee.I'mm turning 17 in October and my permit says i can get mylicensee on september 19. ( i got it late and in az you have to wait 6 months) Is there a way thatLibertyy mutual can insure me? I heard from one of there reps that they wont insure a new driver unless they've had theirlicensee for 6 months. Please help

Also if i got a truck could i just insure it under my parents name even though they already have cars? or is it one car per person?

  1. Weird. LM insured my kids when they got their licenses. Never heard of the 6 month thing.

Each car needs a principal driver. So if you had 3 cars and 3 people on the policy, you would be listed as the principal driver on one of them. No way around that unless you are a full tme student living on campus at least 100 miles away from home (LM's rule, others may be more lenient).

Your insurance will cost less if you are on  your parents policy, but it will still be expensive. Get used to it. The insurance companies will s***w you at least until you're 25. And you better hope you don't get a ticket before then.

  2. Each company is different. You can have more cars then drivers, or more drivers then cars. As long as everyone is named on the insurance policy you will be fine. You will not be able to put that car in your name though it will have to be under one of your parents in order for it to be on there insurance policy. You did not make sense though when you said you turn 17 in october but you can get your license on sept 19 how before you turn 17 will they let you get you DL.
