  1. Looks like it's supposed to run from the exhaust manifold probably to the intake air cleaner. Does the car have the original air cleaner or an aftermarket? You can see where the one goes in pict 2. I wouldn't fret over it. If you live in a cold climate, you may want to get ir fixed before the outside air temps drop into the 40s or so.

  2. Looks like the heat wrap for the exhaust gas recirculation valve. There should be a pipe that goes into the exhaust that runs back up toward the intake that it goes on. You may want to put that back on, as it keeps your spark plug wires/ electrical wires/ etc. from melting.

  3. The other end goes to air filter.

  4. It goes from the "heat stove" - the sheetmetal piece  on the exhaust manifold - to the air cleaner intake (NOT the intake manifold.) Its job is to help your car warm up faster, so it's a useful thing.

Here's how it works. The air cleaner has a flapper valve that's closed when the engine is cold. So when you first start up, it draws warm air from the manifold. As the car warms up this flapper closes and allows cool outside air in.

It's actually part of the emissions system so to pass smog you need this hooked up.

  5. The hose I'm seeing in your photos is  a simple pre-heater hose..It collects warm air off of the exhaust manifold, and uses it to warm the intake air when the engine is first started, or the weather is very cold, to let the engine idle smoothly. One end should attach to the shield on the exhaust manifold; the other end should connect to the air cleaner/ intake The car will run fine without it , but if the weather turns very cold where you live, you'll want it hooked up properly.

  6. It goes from exhaust manifold to air intake housing,to heat up intake air, needed in cold weather, since cold air is harder to burn.If you are in hot climate area, will not notice any different.

  7. connect it to an exhaust port of the engine.

Im going to be in the 8th grade
