Question:

CATV cable removal - safe or not?

Is it safe to remove a CATV cable from the junction box? We have one running where we want to put a new flowerbed. The cable was there since we moved in and we don't use it. Is it safe (or legal?) to remove the cable from the CATV hole in the ground, or not?

  1. Tv cable should have no current going though it. In Texas all cable lines on the homeowner property belongs to the homeowner. One might call the cable company if it still exist. Otherwise call code compliance in your city if in doubt.

  2. only one way to find out

  3. Cut it, forget about it, What wire?

Actually it should be safe to cut, no problem.

Don;t do the cable drips any favors, it is not worth your time, snip!

  4. It is safe to cut it USUALLY. In UK they are usually comes with telephone cable too. But in terms of safety it shouldn't be a problem providing you have the LEGAL right to do so...

  5. If it's your house and your property I don't see where there be an issue with it legal wise.
